Hi girls! Here’s September’s Beauty Spotlight for you to scroll through. As September is a typically skint month for most students (loans don’t come through until the back end of the month), this month’s edition is featuring only one product. But what a product!
I would have loved to put my new Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich foundation in this month’s spotlight but I’ve not been liking it at all so far. The make-up girl told me I had dry skin (I wouldn’t say it was that dry, but whatever) and that I should get this foundation. She put their day base on, which smelt gorgeous, but slathered loads on then put the foundation over. The foundation just didn’t seem to set properly all day and I thought it was because she put too much cream on my face, but it seems that wasn’t the problem. The foundation not only doesn’t set properly but also my face ends up looking oily after a couple of hours as well. So yeah, I might just have to buy a new foundation. Or maybe buy their loose setting powder?
Anyways, enjoy my little step-by-step to this month’s Beauty Spotlight favourite…
Barry M Instant Nail Effects
in Black Magic
If you love getting a bit creative with your nails, like I did with my leopard print nails a few posts back, you’ll love Barry M Instant Nail Effects. It’s only in black at the moment but I’m sure they’ll bring out lots more colours. The bottle has a little guide to getting this unique effect, although I’ve put together a few steps to show you how it works.
Step 1.
Apply your favourite nail polish and allow time for it to dry, or skip this step if you have already painted your nails (obviously!). I used Nails Inc. in Shoreditch. One or two coats should be fine!
Step 2.
Make sure you get quite a bit of polish on the brush, as you only need to apply one coat and it dries amazingly quick. As you can see, I just slopped it on really quickly and it’s quite messy, but this doesn’t matter at all because it’s a messy sort of look anyways.
Step 3.
Apply to all your nails and wait about 10-20 seconds for it to dry. Apply a top coat if desired.
It’s not completely amazing gobsmacking stuff but each nail has its own unique pattern and it’s such a quick and easy way to get creative with your nails. I have to thank my housemate for introducing me to this, we were all amazed when she showed us!
This little beauty costs £3.95 from their website or Barry M stands in Superdrug. What do you girls think? Will you be buying it?
