Supercuts Styling Session
Last weekend I headed down to Manchester Arndale for their ‘Meet The Trends’ event, which you might have seen me talk about in my previous post, as I was chosen as an ambassador for Supercuts’ Manchester salon. It was a day full of mini fashion shows from the likes of Next, All Saints and many more, as well as some pop-up stands from Supercuts, Clinique and Smashbox.
I met with Michael, the Manchester salon’s manager, prior to the event to get my hands on some of the products they would be using at Meet The Trends, including the new Kerastase Discipline range. I was super happy to see that they were using the Kerastase Spray à Porter, which is a sea salt spray. I was looking for beachy waves and I’ve yet to own a sea salt spray, so I was excited to see the results.
Beachy Waves
Starting off with Kerastase Styling Powder Bluff, which works like a dry shampoo, my hair was prepped and primed for curling. It also contains heat protection to stop your styling tools from frazzling your hair!
We decided to try out the ghd wave wand, which is from their brand new range of curve stylers (available to buy for £110 at selected Supercuts salons), and give my hair some beachy waves.
Before curling, each section of hair was given a little spritz with the Kerastase Styling Spray à Porter just to enhance the beachy waves and give a semi-matte effect. This also has heat protection built in, so works perfectly for spritzing on to damp hair before blow-drying or dry hair before styling.
The Final Result
I was actually surprised, considering there was product being used before each curl, that this took so little time. As the wave wand doesn’t give you that ‘perfect’ curl you would usually get with a standard conical wand or wrapping your hair around some straighteners, you can be much quicker and more carefree with styling.
Once you run your fingers or a paddle brush through the freshly curled hair, you lose the rigidness of the curl and get the perfect beachy waves! My stylist told me one of her top tips would be not to break up the curl as you go along, instead wait until the very end to ensure your curls last longer.
We finished off the look with a spray of the Kerastase Styling Laque Noire hairspray, to give the curls maximum hold and keep any frizz at bay.
AW14 Trends with Next
As part of the Meet the Trends event, there were also lots of mini fashion showcases from various brands that have stores within Manchester Arndale. We managed to catch the Next fashion show, which was really fun!
Mat loved the suits on display, especially the eye-catching teal one in the bottom image. For me, it was the fur gilet and metallic jeans that caught my eye, such a well put together A/W look!
I just want to say a huge thank you to Supercuts & Manchester Arndale for getting me involved in such a fun local campaign. Supercuts are also kindly organising a giveaway prize for you guys, so stay tuned for that soon… it will be hair care heaven, I promise!
