The Patty Meltdown
I’m a self-confessed burger addict. In the same way I’ve become quite the coffee snob, shunning Starbucks for a homemade espresso made with fresh beans, I’ve started being much more fussy with the kinds of burgers I like to squash into my mouth.
When Byron invited me down to experience their Patty Meltdown event, as part of the Byron Burger Club, I didn’t take much persuading. They’re the kind of burger joint that favours simple but tasty burgers, not drowned in sauces, that are cooked just how you like them. Which, y’know, has to be pink in the middle.
Here’s what we tucked into on the night. Look away if you’re not a fan of juicy burger meat or if your stomach is prone to excessive rumbling…
The Patty Melt
So what exactly is ‘The Ultimate Toastie‘ made of? Byron describe it as a ‘mutant offspring of a hamburger and a cheese toastie’, which is pretty damn accurate. Two slices of rye bread, fried in butter, with the juciest burger meat, onions and Swiss cheese, grilled together to make the best toastie I’ve ever eaten.
Partnered with sweet potato fries, a chunky piece of gherkin and their Byron burger sauce to dunk it all in, we were pretty stuffed. Yes, even Mat! We’d tucked into the spiced popcorn to start, which was incredibly moreish, so we were feeling well done (gotta get a burger pun in there somewhere) after all that.
Except me, of course, who always knows to leave a special place for dessert. Rather than a traditional dessert, we shared a sticky toffee pudding rum hardshake, which was insanely delicious. It had little pieces of toffee in it that just melted in your mouth. Heavenly.
The Patty Meltdown event cost £15 per person, including a set menu of spiced popcorn, the famous Patty Melt with sweet potato fries, Byron burger sauce and a big ol’ gherkin, with a sticky toffee pudding rum hardshake to top it all off. Not bad, eh?

Our meal was complimentary of Byron but as always, all juicy burger thoughts & opinions are my very own.
