The Ultimate Guide to a Good Night’s Sleep
If you asked my mum about my trouble with sleeping, she’d probably look at you with a really puzzled look on her face and then maybe have a little chuckle.
You see, I’ve never really had any problems getting to sleep at night. I’m even quite good at napping in the day, preferably curled up in a ball at the end of my bed, like a cat.
But once you get yourself into the world of full-time work, the kind where you care about how you progress and where you’ll be in 5 years time and if you will ever be able to afford a mortgage and all that fun stuff, you start to have lots of little worries that suddenly surface at 11.15pm when you’ve finally wound down for the night.
How to Drift Off
Switching off really is key to a good night’s sleep, but there are lots of other little things you can try out to help you drift off to la la land.
The guys at Barker & Stonehouse were keen to find out the best sleep remedies that actually worked, so alongside some other fabulous bloggers, I tested out various methods to see which ones would help me get a good night’s sleep.
The results of our little experiment are all in The Ultimate Guide to a Good Night’s Sleep, which you can check out here.
My Favourite Sleep Remedies
As you can see in the guide, I absolutely loved using the lavender pillow spray each night to create a relaxing atmosphere for sleeping. The one I always recommend is the This Works Sleep Plus Pillow Spray, as it smells gorgeous and really does help me nod off. Even Mat sometimes has a little spritz on his pillow too!
Other than that, I always find a lovely soak in the bath preps me for a peaceful night of sleep, but always make sure not to run the bath too hot. The key to drifting off is to find that perfect temperature of not too hot and not too cold.
Whatever you try out for yourselves, make sure you give it a go every night for at least a week so you can see if it’s having a positive impact on your sleeping pattern. Not everything will work for everyone, so it may take trying a few remedies to find one that helps you sleep better.
