Over the weekend, you might have spied a visit to a very cool hotel over on my Instagram. Hotel Gotham is a five star art deco-style hotel, housed in a former bank building and it’s been on my travel lust list ever since it opened, despite the fact I live pretty close to it!
As part of The Laughing Cow’s launch of the new addition to their snack range, the Mini Cravings, they asked me to share an experience on my blog that would satisfy one of my own cravings. As Mat and I don’t currently live in our own place, we’re always craving a slice of our space, so a night away in a luxury hotel was the perfect way to escape.
We couldn’t believe our luck when we stepped into our room for the night and I seriously couldn’t wait to share our experience of one of Manchester’s two five star hotels.
The Bedroom
The art deco rooms are FULL of quirky little touches, from the ‘Gotham Bugle’ newspaper that contains everything you need to know about your stay to the stack of coffee table books ready for you to flick through. It’s all really thought out and you discover something new in every corner.
Oh and don’t even get me started on that huge faux fur throw. I may have even turned the air con on just so I could cuddle up with it.
The kingsize bed was a dream, with a wall-mounted flat screen TV close by and a huge almost floor-to-ceiling window letting the light flood in. It felt opulent but still cosy.
The Bathroom
When you spend a good chunk of your evening in the bathroom getting ready for dinner, it has to be well-equipped for showering and beautifying. This ticks all the boxes and more, with The White Company mini toiletries, a walk-in waterfall shower, illuminated mirror and a pair of white robes to lounge around in.
On a bit of a side note, I also fell in love with the sink. For real. My dreams of a house with a Victorian style bathroom definitely need to include this!
The Little Touches
Not that I’m an expert by any means, but I don’t think any hotel can truly be called luxury without some special little touches. There was an abundance of them in our room, with Batman cookies, a Nespresso coffee machine, the best minibar I’ve ever seen (complete with cocktail, wine and champagne glasses), his & hers Gotham-branded coffee cups, a hairdryer in a swag bag and a pair of binoculars!
Another lovely surprise was the mini cocktail we were handed at reception whilst checking in for our stay. With Grey Goose vodka in it, no less… major bonus points.
The Verdict
Although pricey, starting at £225 per night for a standard room, this is unlike any other hotel in Manchester. It’s perfect for a romantic weekend away and you don’t even need to leave the building, with a top class restaurant and private member’s club on the sixth floor.
A huge thank you to the lovely people at The Laughing Cow for arranging such a perfect escape for Mat & I, we definitely felt refreshed after having our own five star pad for the evening.

Our stay at Hotel Gotham was complimentary of The Laughing Cow, but as always, all thoughts & opinions are my very own.
