Brunchin’ in Holborn
Yesterday I shared my experience staying at one of London’s coolest hotels, The Hoxton, in Holborn. As if staying in their amazing rooms isn’t enough, they also have a great restaurant and bar on the ground floor called Hubbard & Bell, where you can pick up some seriously tasty brunch to set you up for a busy day in London.
We saved visiting the Holborn Grind for later on, where we had some beautiful espresso martinis, and instead decided to stay put in the hotel for our brunch.
Seated in big comfy armchairs by the window, we were in an absolute prime spot for people-watching, as well as perfectly lit photos, which are an absolute blogger essential!
The Drinks
Although we usually opt for flat whites, we have recently developed a taste for filter coffee after our time at Foundation Coffee, so we went for their House Brew for Two instead. A big, steaming hot pot of freshly brewed coffee was just what we needed with our brunch!
They also serve a range of ‘House Press’ healthy juices, including the Citrus one we chose, which is packed full of orange, grapefruit, lemon and a touch of turmeric & cayenne pepper. Seriously fruity and fresh stuff.
The Food
What’s brunch without a bit of yolk porn? Mat’s avocado on toast was pretty special, his perfectly cooked poached egg had a beautiful & bright runny yolk, with a sprinkling of pistachio nuts on top to finish it off. He also asked for a side of bacon because he refuses to accept vegetarian brunch into his life.
I chose the smoked salmon ‘everything’ bagel, which was packed full of smoked salmon, tomato, red onion and scallion cream. It was a really filling and tasty bagel, toasted just how I like it. Tummy is currently rumbling just looking at the photos!
The Verdict
Again, like the hotel its situated in, this was a bit pricey at around £30 for two people. Saying that though, we found the whole experience both delicious, relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. Service was attentive and friendly, the food was of a high standard and the surroundings were really comfortable.
We’ll definitely be back here next time we stay at The Hoxton! You can book your table at Hubbard & Bell on their website here.
